A violent suspect who fled the scene after he was shot by a Member of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) this morning in Southridge - KZN has been located at a hospital in a critical condition.

At approx. 04:32 Reaction Officers were despatched to Primrose Drive for a  House Burglary in Progress. The first Responding Officer to arrive on scene attempted to apprehend the suspect. The man produced a large screwdriver and attacked the Reaction Officer damaging his two way radio & other equipment. The suspect then attempted to stab the Officer through his bullet proof vest forcing the RUSA Member to fire a single shot from his 9mm Pistol that struck the suspect in the abdomen. The injured perpetrator then fled on foot and could not be immediately located in the darkness.

Reaction Officers & the South Africa Police Services (SAPS) searched extensively for the suspect with negative results.

Information was later received that a man was at the Osindisweni Government Hospital (OGH) with gunshot wounds. He initially informed Doctors & Nurses that he was involved in a motor vehicle accident & was dropped off at the hospital gates by a unknown person in a private car. When Nurses informed the man that the injury was a gunshot wound, the man then informed medical staff that a Reaction Officer had shot him. The staff at the Hospital then made contact with Law Enforcement.

The suspect was later positively identified and remains in a critical condition. Law Enforcement Officers were advised that the suspect would be transferred to a Specialist Hospital due to the severity of his wounds.

An extensive search was conducted for a violent armed suspect who fled after he was shot by a Reaction Officer in Southridge - KZN this morning (Friday, 21/03/2025).

A resident of Primrose Drive contacted the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre at approximately 04:32 after they spotted a male in their garage. Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched. On arrival, the suspect exited the garage and attacked the Reaction Officer who attempted to apprehend him.

A scuffle ensued and the RUSA Officer was stabbed with a screwdriver on his bullet proof vest and shoulder while grappling with the burglar. The Officer thereafter fired a single shot which struck the suspect in the abdomen. The burglar fled the property. An extensive search of the area was conducted, but he still remains at large. The Reaction Officers Two Way Radio, & other equipment was damaged in the attack. The Officer also sustained several injuries.

Law Enforcement is currently searching the area & local Medical Facilities for the injured suspect.

A green VW Polo was extensively damaged after it caught alight on Gopalall Hurbans Road in Gandhi’s Hill - KZN yesterday afternoon (Saturday).

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) arrived on scene at approximately 17:12 and discovered the Ethekwini Fire & Rescue Services in attendance. Firefighters were in the process of extinguishing the fire.

The driver informed Reaction Officers that he noticed smoke emanating from the engine compartment. The vehicle burst into flames when he pulled over to investigate. The car was extensively damaged.

No injuries were reported.

A family pet was stabbed in the chest after it attacked four (4) members of a family aged between ten (10) & seventy six (76) years old.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received several frantic calls for immediate assistance from residents from Tottenham Road in Parkgate - KZN at approx. 17:41 (Friday) this afternoon.

Reaction Officers & Paramedics converged on the scene & found four (4) people that had suffered extensive injuries & blood loss after being attacked by a 2.5 year old Pitbull named Patches. Paramedics stabalized & expedited the injured to a local hospital.

Reaction Officers found Patches on the premise with a stab wound to the chest. The Pitbull was still breathing & immediate assistance was sought from the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) to assist the animal.

According to witnesses, the family was preparing meals to break fast when the Pitbull attacked the ten (10) year old child. The father, grandfather & mother attempted to stop the animal and were immediately attacked. The father grabbed a knife & stabbed the animal in the chest.

At the time of this post (19:40) Reaction Officers confirmed that the animal is clinging on to life awaiting help from the SPCA & the family is receiving medical assistance.

A two (2) plate gas stove was stolen from the home of a 70 year old female a short while ago (Wednesday). 
 
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to Softwood Crescent in Trenance Park - KZN at approximately 15:26. On arrival, Reaction Officers met with the emotional female. She stated that she requested assistance from two (2) Indian males who were walking past her house to carry a wooden pallet from a her neighbours property to her yard.  
 
The men obliged, but demanded R50 for their services when they completed the task. The pensioner informed the males that she only had R20 in her possession. They accepted the cash before one (1) of the men distracted her. His accomplice disconnect her two (2) plate gas stove and fled the residence. 
 
Reaction Officers conducted an extensive search for the suspects, but no arrests were made.

A 48 year old male (pictured) was robbed at gunpoint by three (3) suspects armed with pistols in the Verulam CBD - KZN this morning (Tuesday) at approx. 06:45.

The victim reported to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) that the suspects produced handguns & robbed him of R930 in cash, a Huawei P40 Lite & a Nokia C21 mobile phone while he crossed from Todd Street to Ireland Street on foot.

His wallet minus the cash was recovered by the victim near the scene.

The body of a man was found in overgrown vegetation in an area locally known as New Houses in Oakford - KZN this morning (Tuesday). 
 
Residents made the discovery and contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) for assistance at approximately 08:01. Reaction Officers and RUSA Paramedics were immediately dispatched and on arrival found the man in overgrown grass next to the road. His clothes were blood soaked. He sustained a penetrating wound to his head. A pool of blood was discovered on road approximately 15 metres away (picture 3). 
 
His identity has not been established at this stage.

A 24 year old Jobseeker was assaulted and hacked with a panga in Everest Heights - KZN today (Thursday).
 
The injured male was located on Wick Street in the Verulam CBD - KZN following the attack. He sought assistance from a passerby who contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) at approximately 15:19.
 
Reaction Officers were dispatched and on arrival met with the victim. He sustained multiple open wounds to his body and face. The Missionlands - KZN resident informed RUSA Members that he was approaching homes seeking employment when he was confronted by five (5) occupants of a VW Polo (registration unknown) on Gemini Crescent in Everest Heights - KZN.
 
The men alighted from the vehicle and attacked him with a panga. They robbed him of his cellphone and cash before they loaded him in the vehicle drove in the direction of KwaDukuza - KZN.
 
The victim managed to open the door and jump out of the moving vehicle. He thereafter hitch hiked and was dropped off on Wick Street in the Verulam CBD - KZN. His wife arrived and informed Reaction Officers that her partner has a history of being assaulted for no reason. Reaction Officers were unable to confirm the details provided due to the victim changing his version of events multiple times during questioning.
 
He was treated for his injuries before being expedited to hospital by ambulance.

A 43 year old man was bludgeoned to death during a home invasion in Ntapuka, Ndwedwe - KZN.
Residents in the area contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) for assistance at approximately 07:34 this morning (Friday). Reaction Officers & RUSA Paramedics were immediately dispatched and on arrival, discovered the deceased lying in a pool of blood. He was naked in a prone position in his living room. He sustained blunt force trauma to his head and face. Rigor Mortis was also present.
 
Neighbours informed Reaction Officers that the incident occurred at approximately 23:00 last night (Thursday). They contacted RUSA for assistance eight hours (😎 later after Police failed to arrive.
Officers were further informed that six (6) suspects armed with firearms & knives in two (2) vehicles terrorised the community last night. They initially proceeded to the residence of a 65 year old man who also operates a tuck shop from the property. They demanded cash and stabbed him in the chest. A neighbour investigating his calls for assistance was unaware of a robbery in progress. She fled back to her home, but was pursued by the suspects.
 
The robbers pursued and caught up to her as she entered her house. They pistol whipped & assaulted her husband when he came to her assistance. They informed the female to mind her own business and not to get involved in their affairs.
 
The suspects thereafter proceeded to the deceased’s residence where they broke the windows and gained entry into the house(picture 7). It is believed that they bludgeoned him to death before fleeing with valuables from the house. The 65 year old who was stabbed in the chest and the male who was pistol whipped had been expedited privately to a medical facility.
The elderly male was later transferred to a specialist hospital due to the extent of his injury.
